Senior Barista

Job Summary

Luma Coffee is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Senior Barista to help deliver exceptional specialty coffee and hospitality. Located in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward, Luma Coffee serves handcrafted espresso beverages, signature drinks made with house-made syrups, matcha, and fresh pastries.

The ideal candidate has strong coffee preparation skills, a passion for beverage quality, and the ability to support daily café operations. As a senior team member, you will help maintain consistent drink standards, guide less-experienced baristas, and create a welcoming environment for every customer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and flat whites.
• Craft specialty coffee drinks, cold brew, matcha, tea, and seasonal beverages according to recipes.
• Calibrate grinders, monitor espresso extraction, and maintain consistent beverage quality.
• Train and support new baristas in drink preparation, customer service, and café procedures.
• Provide friendly customer service and make recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and process customer payments accurately.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment.
• Monitor inventory and restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and daily café preparation.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance standards.
• Communicate with management about supply needs, customer feedback, and operational concerns.
• Help the team maintain efficient service during busy morning and afternoon periods.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience, preferably in a specialty coffee environment.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming, and beverage recipes.
• Ability to maintain consistency in drink quality and presentation.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience training or mentoring team members preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee equipment cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
• Dependable attendance and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
• Availability for scheduled shifts, including weekends when required.

The café focuses on quality coffee, handcrafted beverages, house-made syrups, matcha, and pastries. Its welcoming atmosphere and carefully prepared drinks make it a neighborhood destination for coffee enthusiasts and everyday café visitors.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
