Senior Barista

Job Summary

Brooklyn Roasting Company is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Barista to help lead daily café service and maintain high standards for coffee quality. The ideal candidate has strong espresso preparation skills, enjoys sharing coffee knowledge, and can support fellow baristas while delivering excellent customer service. This role combines hands-on beverage preparation with team guidance, workflow coordination, and a commitment to creating a welcoming café experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality espresso beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos, and specialty coffee drinks.
• Calibrate grinders and adjust espresso settings to maintain consistent extraction and flavor.
• Prepare brewed coffee, teas, and other beverages according to company standards.
• Provide friendly service, answer questions about coffee varieties, and explain brewing methods.
• Guide and support baristas during daily service and busy periods.
• Assist with training new team members on beverage preparation, equipment use, and customer service.
• Monitor coffee bean, milk, syrup, and other supply levels and communicate replenishment needs.
• Maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewing equipment, and workstations.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper ingredient-storage procedures.
• Help coordinate opening and closing duties, cash handling, and shift handoffs as assigned.
• Support consistent drink presentation, order accuracy, and efficient service throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience with strong espresso and coffee preparation skills.
• Senior, lead barista, or shift leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of espresso extraction, grinder calibration, milk steaming, and alternative brewing methods.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach coworkers and maintain quality standards under pressure.
• Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and basic inventory procedures.
• Flexible availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
