Senior BAS Accountant

Accountant – Boutique Public Practice Firm | Auckland North Shore

A well-established boutique accounting firm on Auckland’s North Shore is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. We are known for delivering high-quality, personalised services to a diverse client base including companies, trusts, and individuals.

Our firm specialises in accounting, tax planning, GST compliance, and cross-border structuring. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior professionals in a collaborative environment where initiative, technical expertise, and client relationships are genuinely valued.

This is a client-facing advisory role, providing the opportunity to build strong relationships with key clients while assisting with financial reporting, tax planning, and business structuring matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage client relationships and provide technical accounting and tax advice
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, and GST returns
• Streamline workpapers, compliance processes, and review procedures
• Provide proactive business, tax, and structuring advice to clients
• Assist clients with Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
• Work collaboratively with senior team members on client advisory matters

Requirements

• CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards completion

• Minimum 5 years’ experience within a New Zealand public practice environment

• Strong knowledge of New Zealand tax and compliance requirements

• Prior experience in audit is preferred

• Confident using Xero and cloud-based accounting systems

• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills

• New Zealand residency or valid long-term work rights

• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese preferred, to support our diverse client base.
