About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Developer (Power BI / Data & Analytics) to design, develop, and deliver scalable business intelligence solutions across a complex enterprise environment.

The role will be responsible for transforming data into meaningful analytics through robust data models, high-performing Power BI dashboards, and modern BI practices. You will work closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure analytical solutions.

The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on experience across Power BI, DAX, data modelling, SQL, ETL, data integration, and performance optimisation, while also contributing to BI governance, deployment practices, documentation, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

• Design and develop robust and scalable data models using industry best practices.
• Develop intuitive and high-performing Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Source and integrate data from multiple systems including SQL Server, Oracle, cloud platforms, and APIs.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to support reliable and scalable data pipelines.
• Design and implement data security models, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Manage Power BI environments and deployment pipelines across Development, Test, and Production environments.
• Apply Git-based version control and CI/CD practices across BI assets.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation covering data models, data flows, and reporting solutions.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective analytical solutions.
• Undertake detailed data analysis, ETL, data cleansing, and data migration involving large datasets.
• Apply optimisation techniques to improve Power BI report performance.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team capability uplift.
• Drive continuous improvement across BI practices and tooling.

Desired Experience and Capabilities

• Proven experience as a Senior BI Developer, with a strong focus on Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, data modelling, and SQL is mandatory.
• Strong experience applying optimisation techniques to improve Power BI report performance.
• Experience configuring Power BI on-premises Report Server.
• Strong experience in detailed data analysis, ETL, data cleansing, and data migration.
• Experience working with very large and complex datasets.
• Strong experience designing scalable data models and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security within Power BI environments.
• Experience managing Power BI deployment pipelines across Dev, Test, and Production.
• Extensive experience with version control tools including GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with Python, R, and cloud technologies is highly desirable.

Skills Requirements

• Power BI & DAX – Strong hands-on expertise developing complex Power BI dashboards, reports, measures, and analytical solutions.
• Data Modelling & SQL – Strong capability designing robust data models and working with complex SQL datasets.
• BI Performance Optimisation – Demonstrated ability to optimise Power BI reports for improved performance.
• Data Integration & ETL – Strong experience integrating data from multiple systems and performing ETL, cleansing, and migration activities.
• Stakeholder Management – Ability to build trusted relationships and translate business requirements into practical analytical solutions.
• Effective Communication – Ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders across varying levels of technical expertise.
• Time Management & Organisation – Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
• Problem Solving – Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify effective solutions.
• Continuous Improvement – Ability to improve BI practices, tooling, performance, and delivery outcomes.

Additional Requirements

• National Police Check.
• Baseline National Security Clearance.
• 40 hours per week.
