Senior Big Data Engineer (Scala/Spark)

We are looking for a Senior Big Data Engineer to join a Content Metadata team responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and datasets used by internal stakeholders.

The role focuses on large-scale data processing, metadata-driven datasets, and the design and implementation of reliable big data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Gather and clarify technical and business requirements with stakeholders
• Design scalable data processing solutions and data pipelines
• Build and maintain big data pipelines and data aggregates
• Develop reliable and maintainable data processing solutions using Scala and Spark
• Work with large datasets and optimize pipelines for performance and scalability
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders on data architecture and delivery
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to engineering best practices

Requirements

• Strong experience with Scala and Apache Spark
• Solid experience designing and building data pipelines
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with large-scale data processing systems
• Good understanding of data modeling and data processing best practices
• English level B2 or higher
• Ability to provide partial overlap with Pacific Time, including occasional calls until 9:00 PM Kyiv time

• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Snowflake
• Experience migrating large-scale data platforms or datasets from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud
• Experience with cloud-based big data architectures
