Senior Blockchain Engineer (Rust)

EHB Technologies Limited is looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior Blockchain Engineer (Rust) with a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience and substantial hands-on experience in blockchain technology.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, evaluating, designing, and developing blockchain-related solutions, including blockchain protocols, distributed systems, validator infrastructure, smart contracts, and blockchain security components.

The role requires strong expertise in Rust programming, blockchain architecture, distributed systems, cryptographic fundamentals, consensus mechanisms, and blockchain security. The successful candidate will work closely with EHB's technical team and external blockchain technology and security partners to evaluate suitable blockchain architectures, define technical requirements, and support the development of secure, scalable, and reliable blockchain solutions.

As EHB's blockchain technology stack is not yet finalized, the candidate must be capable of evaluating different blockchain ecosystems and recommending an appropriate technical approach based on business requirements, security considerations, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

Blockchain Architecture & Protocol Development

• Research, evaluate, and recommend suitable blockchain architectures and technology stacks based on EHB's business and technical requirements.
• Analyze blockchain protocols, consensus mechanisms, transaction processing, block production, and state management.
• Understand the architecture and operation of dot Layer, Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchain networks.
• Contribute to the design and development of blockchain components, protocol integrations, and distributed applications.
• Evaluate existing blockchain frameworks and ecosystems, including Solana, Substrate/Polkadot, NEAR, and other relevant platforms.
• Assess whether EHB's requirements are best served by an existing blockchain, a customized blockchain implementation, or a new blockchain network with the Validator and the relay node (on both test and mainnet).
• Analyze trade-offs involving transaction throughput, finality, decentralization, DeFi with swapping, and centralized CeFi, fault tolerance, network participation, and operational cost.
• Prepare technical assessments and architecture recommendations for management and external technical partners.

Rust Development & Systems Programming

• Design, develop, test, and maintain blockchain-related software ISO Linux/ubuntu using Rust.
• Apply Rust's ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, type system, error handling (create the smart contract and the protocol), and memory-safety principles effectively.
• Develop reliable and efficient system components, backend services, blockchain integrations, and infrastructure utilities.
• Implement asynchronous programming, concurrency, and network communication where required.
• Knowledge of Communication with the Polka dot (where all the bridges are connected).
• Work with relevant Rust frameworks, libraries, and development tools.
• Write modular, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
• Perform debugging, profiling, benchmarking, and performance optimization.
• Participate in code reviews and establish appropriate development and testing standards.

Distributed Systems & Validator Infrastructure

• Understand the architecture and operational requirements of blockchain nodes, validators, RPC, POS, DPS, APS services, and peer-to-peer networks.
• Evaluate validator registration, node synchronization, transaction validation, block propagation, and consensus participation.
• Understand peer-to-peer networking, node discovery, network communication, and distributed state synchronization.
• Analyze validator performance, node availability, fault tolerance, and network reliability.
• Work with infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Evaluate the infrastructure requirements for running and scaling blockchain nodes and validator environments.
• Understand the security implications of validator keys, signing operations, node access, and validator infrastructure.
• Support integration between blockchain components and existing backend services, APIs, and infrastructure.

Smart Contracts & Blockchain Integration

• Understand smart contract architecture, execution environments, transaction lifecycle, and on-chain program interactions.
• Develop or integrate smart contracts and on-chain programs where required by the selected blockchain ecosystem.
• Evaluate smart contract development frameworks and testing tools.
• Work with blockchain RPC APIs, SDKs, event streams, and transaction submission interfaces.
• Design and implement integrations between blockchain networks and off-chain applications.
• Understand wallet integration, digital signatures, transaction signing, and key-management principles.
• Evaluate cross-chain communication and interoperability requirements where relevant.
• Coordinate with application and backend developers to establish reliable blockchain integration workflows.

Blockchain Security & Cryptography

• Apply cryptographic fundamentals, including hashing, digital signatures, public-key cryptography, and key management.
• Understand common blockchain vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and protocol-level security risks.
• Evaluate risks involving consensus mechanisms, validator operations, transaction validation, access control, and network communication.
• Understand smart contract security issues, including authorization flaws, reentrancy where applicable, arithmetic errors, and unsafe state transitions.
• Participate in threat modelling and security reviews for blockchain architectures and implementations.
• Use appropriate testing, fuzzing, and analysis techniques to identify defects and security weaknesses.
• Collaborate with external blockchain security specialists to support architecture reviews, security assessments, and remediation activities.
• Review technical findings and help translate security recommendations into practical engineering requirements.

Technical Research & Development Partnership

• Work with EHB management and engineering teams to define blockchain project requirements and technical objectives.
• Participate in technical discussions with external blockchain development firms, security companies, auditors, and technology partners.
• Evaluate technical proposals, architecture documents, implementation plans, and development roadmaps.
• Assess the technical feasibility, scalability, security, and maintainability of proposed blockchain solutions.
• Identify integration requirements, technology dependencies, implementation risks, and potential limitations.
• Help EHB assess whether proposed solutions meet its functional and infrastructure requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, proof-of-concept implementations, and evaluation reports.
• Support technical due diligence when evaluating external development partners and blockchain platforms.
• Translate business objectives into technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and development priorities.
• Provide management with evidence-based technical recommendations and identify areas requiring independent security review.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Blockchain Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, including substantial hands-on blockchain development experience.
• Strong proficiency in **Rust**, with practical experience using it in blockchain, protocol, systems, or infrastructure development.
• Strong understanding of blockchain architecture, distributed ledger technology, consensus mechanisms, transaction processing, and state management.
• Practical understanding of blockchain nodes, validators, RPC interfaces, and peer-to-peer networking.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, fault tolerance, and network communication.
• Understanding of cryptographic fundamentals, digital signatures, hashing, and secure key management.
• Experience working with at least one blockchain ecosystem, protocol, or framework.
• Familiarity with smart contracts, on-chain programs, or blockchain execution environments.
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, performance profiling, and code reviews.
• Understanding of blockchain security principles and common protocol or application-level vulnerabilities.
• Ability to evaluate technical architectures and compare different blockchain platforms objectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineering teams, management, and external partners.
• Ability to work independently, conduct technical research, and take ownership of complex engineering tasks.

Preferred Skills

• Production-level Rust experience in a blockchain protocol, node client, validator, or blockchain infrastructure project.
• Experience with one or more of Ethereum, Solana/Anchor, Substrate/Polkadot, Mosic Galaxy, File Coin, Binance, NEAR, or other Rust-based blockchain technologies.
• Experience contributing to blockchain protocol implementations or distributed network components.
• Familiarity with Ethereum/EVM architecture and Solidity-based smart contracts.
• Experience with blockchain security testing, smart contract auditing, fuzzing, or threat modelling.
• Familiarity with cryptographic libraries and secure key-management systems.
• Experience with Docker, Linux, CI/CD, monitoring, and production infrastructure.
• Knowledge of RPC services, event-driven systems, message queues, and backend integration.
• Experience evaluating blockchain scalability, transaction finality, network reliability, and consensus performance.
