Senior Bookkeeper – Full-Time, Permanent

Bussey Porter Hetu, a locally owned Chartered Professional Accounting firm affiliated with Porter Hetu International, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our expanding team. Role Overview:
The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the full cycle of bookkeeping for a diverse client portfolio, preparing payroll, producing financial reports, and assisting with client correspondence. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, including:
• Accounts payable: Enter purchase invoices and payments; reconcile vendor accounts and credit card statements
• Accounts receivable: Enter sales invoices and receipts; reconcile customer accounts
• Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare and submit HST remittances
• Reconcile intercompany accounts
• Process payroll using Sage 50, QuickBooks, and QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• Prepare and submit payroll remittances, T4 and other slips, WHSCC annual returns, and ROEs
• Prepare financial and accounting reports for clients and management
• Analyze financial statements and provide insights
• Maintain professional correspondence with clients
• Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff (supervisory experience preferred but not required)

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma with a post-secondary diploma in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in full-cycle bookkeeping
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with accounting software (Sage 50, QuickBooks, QBO)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Self-motivated, client-focused, and a collaborative team player
• Experience in an accounting firm is an asset
