Senior Building Services Engineer

The Opportunity

An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Services Engineer to join its leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys a combination of technical delivery, client management and team leadership.

You'll play a key role in overseeing a diverse range of commercial and residential projects while supporting the development of a talented team of mechanical and electrical design engineers.

The Role

As Senior Building Services Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from design through to completion, ensuring the successful delivery of building services solutions while maintaining exceptional client relationships.

You will also lead and develop engineering staff, drive continuous improvement and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers.
• Oversee projects from design handover through to successful completion.
• Support the preparation of RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4 design specifications.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Attend site visits and project meetings.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery and team performance.
• Support recruitment and staff development activities.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in an engineering-related discipline.
• Experience in a similar Building Services Engineering position.
• At least three years' experience within construction, building services or a related engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services design.
• Previous team management or leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Strong problem-solving, organisational and negotiation abilities.
• The ability to prioritise workloads and deliver to deadlines.
• A collaborative approach with a passion for developing others.

Desirable

• PRINCE2 or another project management qualification.
• Experience with Revit and BIM Level 2 modelling.
• Previous experience within an engineering consultancy environment.
