What they need

Deliver projects that genuinely move the dial

Praxis is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to take ownership of a high-quality UK commercial property portfolio, delivering refurbishment, development and major capital projects from inception through to completion.

This is not a role where you’ll be managing minor works in isolation. You’ll have exposure to significant, commercially important projects , working closely with Asset Management, Property Management, Facilities Management, contractors and consultants to improve assets, protect value and drive performance.

A genuinely exciting project pipeline.

You’ll step into an active pipeline of projects, including:

  • Major CAT A refurbishment — contract value of up to £10m
  • Fareham — CAT A & CAT B refurbishment to reposition space and secure a new lease — c.£3m
  • Chelmsford — complex cladding remediation addressing fire integrity and water ingress — c.£1m
  • Brindleyplace, Birmingham — new glass-box entrance, reception transformation and café — c.£750k
  • Breakspear — targeted roof works — c.£300k

What makes this role different?

Ownership. Exposure. Commercial impact.

As a vertically integrated real estate business, you’ll see far more than an individual project or technical instruction.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across the full asset lifecycle, build strong commercial expertise and take genuine ownership of projects from early strategy through to delivery.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Project delivery — managing refurbishment, development and major repair projects from inception to completion
  • Commercial control — managing budgets, programmes, cashflow, variations, risk and cost
  • Contract administration — overseeing procurement, appointments, instructions, certificates and contractual obligations
  • Technical delivery — diagnosing defects, developing project strategies and providing building surveying advice
  • Consultant & contractor management — appointing teams, challenging performance and driving high-quality outcomes
  • Statutory & compliance matters — including CDM, Building Control, planning and Party Wall
  • Asset support — providing technical input to Asset Managers, acquisitions, tenant matters, dilapidations and wider asset decisions
  • Project governance — maintaining clear reporting, documentation and records through to completion and handover

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced Building Surveyor with strong commercial property experience (must have exposure to working with office space assets) and a track record of delivering refurbishment and capital projects.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong technical building surveying expertise
  • Proven project delivery and contract administration experience
  • Experience managing budgets, programmes and contractors
  • Strong knowledge of refurbishment, construction and defect diagnosis
  • Confidence dealing with consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders
  • Good understanding of CDM, Building Control, planning and Party Wall
  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
  • Experience with Office Space Assets
  • MRICS or equivalent desirable

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes ownership, challenges when things aren't right and wants to understand the commercial impact of the work you deliver.

Why Praxis?

Praxis is a privately owned, vertically integrated UK real estate investment and management business with a portfolio spanning commercial, retail and mixed-use assets.

With a team of 500+ people and an ambitious growth strategy, this is an opportunity to join a business where you can have genuine visibility and impact.

You’ll work alongside Asset Management, Property Management and Facilities Management rather than operating in a technical silo, giving you a much broader understanding of the assets and the opportunity to influence decisions beyond your immediate projects.

If you’re looking for a Building Surveying role with serious project exposure, commercial influence and the opportunity to grow with an ambitious business, we’d like to hear from you.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary (we want to hire the best so have not put a top end salary banding on this role purposefully)
  • Discretionary bonus
  • 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
  • Office closure over the festive period
  • Additional holiday with service
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • 3x Life Assurance
  • Group Income Protection
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Comprehensive business expenses policy

We are also open to applications from more junior Building Surveyors who want to learn, develop and grow their career with us.

Location: London, with travel across the UK portfolio.
