Senior Business Analyst and Data Migration Lead

About the Role

This is a dual role. As Senior Business Analyst you will run requirements elicitation, process design, and quality assurance in an Agile delivery team. As Data Migration Lead you will own the migration workstream end to end, starting with the move of linked document systems into SharePoint, ahead of a planned re-architecture of the approval system. You will also act as the team’s Power BI subject matter expert, shaping the reporting and analytics layer that goes with it.

If you are a senior BA who has grown beyond writing user stories and wants ownership of data migration and business intelligence alongside core analysis work, this role gives you all three.

What You’ll Do

• Run requirements elicitation workshops and present findings and recommendations to business stakeholders.

• Elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements, and translate them into user stories with clear acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps.

• Work with the product owner to refine and prioritise the product backlog each iteration.

• Review, design, and document business processes in consultation with business users.

• Lead business data analysis to surface trends, insights, and process improvement opportunities.

• Act as the project team’s Power BI subject matter expert, guiding dashboard design, data visualisation, and reporting standards.

• Define business metrics, key performance indicators, and reporting frameworks for operational and management decision-making.

• Lead and coordinate data migration across workstreams, covering data mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.

• Define migration strategy, data quality standards, and success criteria with business users and technical teams.

• Facilitate source-to-target mapping workshops and resolve data issues as they surface.

• Oversee migration testing, including data validation, reconciliation, and user sign-off.

• Manage migration risks, dependencies, and issues, and keep data governance, compliance, and audit requirements in view throughout.

• Coordinate with the QA team, validate test scenarios, support User Acceptance Testing, and track defects through to resolution.

What You’ll Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Business Management, Accounting, or a related discipline.

• At least ten (10) years in business analysis, including at least five (5) years in a senior business analyst role.

• At least five (5) years in the banking, accounting, or financial services sector.

• At least seven (7) years designing and documenting business processes.

• At least five (5) years in quality assurance and testing of IT applications.

• Demonstrated experience leading data migration, including mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.

• Demonstrated experience leading business data analysis and defining reporting, dashboard, and analytics requirements.

• Hands-on Power BI capability, with the credibility to act as the team’s reference point on dashboards and reporting.

• Proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing iterations, user stories, and supporting documentation.

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack: SharePoint, Power Platform, Teams, Dynamics 365, and Power BI.

• Knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and conversant with the project management and systems development lifecycles.

• Exposure to account or sales management, government procurement processes, and contract lifecycle management, or equivalent.

• Relevant experience applying ITIL best practices.

• Proven vendor management skills and strong stakeholder communication and management skills.

• Excellent written and spoken English.
