Senior Buyer – Chesterfield Township, MI Area

Movement Search and Delivery is working with a growing Tier I automotive supplier in the Chesterfield Township, Michigan area to identify and evaluate a Senior Buyer .

About the Role:

The Senior Buyer will play an important role in developing and strengthening the company’s North American supply base. This position will manage existing supplier relationships while identifying, sourcing, qualifying, and developing new suppliers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong automotive purchasing experience, supplier development capabilities, and experience supporting new programs and launches. Experience localizing a foreign or global supply base is highly valued.

This position requires someone who is organized, collaborative, and able to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do:

• Identify, evaluate, source, and develop new suppliers.
• Support the localization and expansion of the North American supply base.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, contracts, pricing, and commercial terms.
• Lead RFQ activities, evaluate supplier bids, and make sourcing recommendations.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality to develop and communicate supplier requirements.
• Support program purchasing activities and new product/program launches.
• Develop and execute cost-reduction and supplier savings initiatives.
• Prepare and process purchase orders and purchasing documentation.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and service.
• Resolve supplier issues, claims, and commercial concerns.
• Analyze market conditions, pricing trends, and material availability.
• Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with suppliers.
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, supplier agreements, and materials ordered.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of purchasing policies, procedures, and systems.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other internal teams to ensure supply continuity and successful program execution.

What You Need to Succeed:

• 4+ years of professional purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
• Automotive industry experience is required.
• Demonstrated experience sourcing and developing new suppliers.
• Experience with program purchasing and new product launches .
• Experience localizing a foreign or global supply base is strongly preferred.
• Strong supplier negotiation and contract management skills.
• Proven ability to identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities.
• Understanding of automotive supplier quality and purchasing requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and suppliers.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure.
