As a Senior C++ / PyTorch AI Framework Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and validation of advanced AI and deep learning software solutions, focusing on the PyTorch framework and hardware accelerators. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring high-performance, reliable, and scalable solutions that drive HCLTech’s cutting-edge projects in AI, contributing significantly to the company’s mission to lead innovation in the technology sector.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and enhance features for PyTorch and AI framework software.
• Develop robust software to enable deep-learning workloads on hardware accelerators.
• Analyze and optimize complex C++ and Python code paths to ensure efficiency and reliability.
• Conduct thorough root-cause analysis to resolve framework and product defects.
• Implement and debug framework functionalities and deep-learning operators, ensuring mathematical correctness and numerical stability.
• Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Investigate and resolve software and performance regressions using dedicated hardware and test platforms.
• Identify and manage cross-component dependencies within the AI framework stack.
• Contribute to the evolution of software design and implementation roadmaps.
• Review and perform code changes, upholding high standards of code quality and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to other engineers within the team.
• Collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Skill Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in C++ software development.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Strong background in Linux-based development and debugging.
• In-depth understanding of deep-learning frameworks, especially PyTorch.
• Proven expertise in software debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolving complex engineering challenges.
• Experience with unit and integration testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with Git and source-control systems.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Gdańsk as required for hardware and laboratory access.
• Demonstrated capability to independently own and deliver complex projects.

Other Requirements (Optional)

• Hands-on experience with PyTorch internals and framework architecture.
• Experience with ATen, tensor operations, and custom operator development.
• Background in GPU or hardware-accelerator software development (e.g., CUDA, SYCL, oneAPI, ROCm, OpenCL).
• Familiarity with Intel GPU, Gaudi, or Habana hardware.
• Kernel/operator development expertise.
• Strong foundation in numerical computing and floating-point precision/stability.
• Skills in performance analysis and profiling of deep-learning workloads.
• Experience with CMake and complex C++ build systems.
• Contributions to open-source or upstream AI frameworks.
