What they need

Senior Case Manager - Complex and Catastrophic Injury

Salary: £80,000.00 per annum for an established transferable caseload, with staged salaried packages available for candidates bringing a smaller initial caseload

Flexible, predominantly home-based working

If you are an established complex-injury Case Manager looking for greater professional autonomy, strong clinical support and the opportunity to play a meaningful part in a growing specialist company, we would love to hear from you.

EWA Case Management is looking for an experienced occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse with an extensive clinical background and significant case-management experience. You will have the confidence and expertise to manage a complex caseload independently while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive clinical team.

You will manage clients with one or more areas of complex or catastrophic injury, which may include acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, polytrauma and other life-changing presentations. This opportunity is particularly suited to someone with an established professional and referral profile and a case-management caseload, or proportion of a caseload, that may be transferable to EWA.

What EWA can offer you

We offer:

  • Flexible and predominantly home-based working.
  • Twenty days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • An additional paid day off for your birthday.
  • Paid leave between Christmas and New Year when the EWA office is closed.
  • Employer pension contributions.
  • Reimbursement of work-related mileage at 70p per mile.
  • Access to an electric vehicle salary-sacrifice scheme, subject to eligibility and the terms of the scheme.
  • Protected monthly one-to-one clinical supervision.
  • Responsive ad hoc clinical and managerial support.
  • High-quality report-review and proofreading support.
  • The support and infrastructure of a CQC-registered organisation.
  • Access to established administrative, HR, governance and compliance support when managing directly employed care and support packages.
  • Access to EWA’s established relationships with leading personal-injury and clinical-negligence law firms, together with opportunities to be considered for suitable new referrals in line with your expertise, location and capacity.
  • An annual EWA professional study day.
  • Summer and end-of-year team events.
  • Meaningful involvement in shaping a growing specialist case-management service.

Annual-leave entitlement and other relevant benefits will be calculated pro rata for part-time appointments.

The £80,000 salary applies to candidates bringing an established caseload sufficient to support the role. Where a candidate has a smaller transferable caseload, EWA may offer a staged starting salary reflecting the initial level of work, with agreed salary reviews as the caseload develops towards the required level.

The role

As a Senior Case Manager, you will:

  • Independently manage a caseload of clients with complex and catastrophic injuries.
  • Undertake Immediate Needs Assessments and prepare clear, clinically reasoned and proportionate reports.
  • Develop, coordinate and review comprehensive rehabilitation, care and support programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, families, treating clinicians, support providers, solicitors, deputies, insurers and expert witnesses.
  • Commission and monitor therapy, care, equipment, accommodation and other specialist services.
  • Maintain effective oversight of clinical risk, safeguarding, expenditure and rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Work effectively within joint and single instructions and the wider medico-legal framework.
  • Maintain high-quality case-management records and produce timely reports, correspondence, budgets and costings.
  • Manage complex professional relationships and build trusted relationships with existing and prospective referrers.
  • Represent EWA professionally and contribute, where appropriate, to its profile and wider service development.
  • If preferred, mentor or supervise developing Case Managers as EWA’s clinical team grows.

About you

Applicants must have:

  • Current professional registration as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse.
  • A minimum of ten years’ post-qualification clinical experience.
  • A minimum of six years’ dedicated case-management experience.
  • Significant experience of managing a meaningful caseload of complex or catastrophic-injury cases independently and effectively, drawing upon clinical or management support where appropriate.
  • An established professional and referral network.
  • A demonstrable track record of developing, generating or retaining case-management work.
  • Excellent assessment, clinical-reasoning and report-writing skills.
  • A sound understanding of litigation, rehabilitation, statutory provision and private-sector services.
  • Strong organisational, communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to manage competing clinical, financial and operational priorities.
  • A full UK driving licence, access to a suitable vehicle, motor insurance covering business use and the ability to travel for client and professional meetings.
  • An established case-management caseload, or a proportion of an existing caseload, reasonably expected to be transferable to EWA, subject to the necessary agreements, professional obligations and contractual arrangements.

About EWA

EWA is a close-knit, clinically led company specialising in complex and catastrophic-injury case management, alongside expert witness services. We combine the autonomy expected by an established senior practitioner with the personal support and direct access to clinical leadership offered by a smaller organisation.

Our Case Managers are known and valued as individuals, and case allocation reflects their expertise, location, capacity and professional interests alongside the client’s needs. As EWA grows, we are looking for senior professionals who want to undertake excellent case-management work while contributing their experience, professional relationships and sustainable caseload to the company’s future.
