SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and seasoned Civil Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, with preference for candidates with 25+ years of substantial experience in civil engineering, construction, infrastructure development, project supervision, or consultancy.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive practical knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction practices and be able to provide technical guidance, supervise projects and review engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and professional guidance on civil engineering and construction projects.
• Review engineering drawings, designs, specifications, BOQs, structural details, and construction methodologies.
• Prepare, review, interpret, and modify civil engineering and construction drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
• Supervise and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Conduct site inspections and identify technical, structural, quality, and construction-related issues.
• Provide practical solutions to engineering and construction challenges encountered on site.
• Monitor contractors, subcontractors, artisans, and technical teams to ensure work is executed properly and according to schedule.
• Review quantities, materials, workmanship, and project progress.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical input during project planning, budgeting, procurement, and execution.
• Prepare and review technical reports, site reports, project documentation, and progress reports.
• Identify potential project risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Support the organization with professional advice on civil engineering, construction, maintenance, and infrastructure-related matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, with preference for candidates with 25+ years of substantial industry experience.
• Professional registration with COREN is an added advantage.
