We're looking for an experienced, qualified accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth of the practice. For the right person, this role offers a long term career path as the practice grows.

What you'll be doing

You'll take on an established portfolio of owner managed businesses across a wide range of sectors, acting as their main point of contact and trusted advisor, and managing your clients from start to finish. Day to day, that means:

• Reviewing and finalising statutory accounts for limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A), sole traders and partnerships

• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax and self assessment tax returns

• Handling VAT returns and advising on VAT treatment

• Managing your files from start to finish, producing work ready for director review with minimal rework, or signing off work yourself if you hold a practising certificate

• Building strong client relationships, managing expectations and communicating proactively

• Mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members

• Staying current with regulatory changes, including MTD for Income Tax

• Contributing to the practice's growth by identifying opportunities to add value for clients

This is a senior, hands on role. You'll have autonomy over your workload and direct client relationships, and we'll look to you to lead by example on quality and client service.

What we're looking for

Essential

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (full membership, not affiliate status)

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a UK accountancy practice

• Strong year end accounts experience across a range of entity types

• Confident with corporation tax computations and self assessment tax returns

• Solid understanding of VAT

• Able to manage a portfolio with minimal supervision and take ownership of files from start to finish

• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues

• Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members

Desirable

• A current practising certificate, or able to obtain one

• Experience with cloud based accounting and practice management software

• Experience with MTD for Income Tax

• Exposure to SEIS/EIS, director loan accounts and s455 tax

• Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

• Office based at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxford Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX13 5NW

• Salary: £55,000 to £62,000 per year

• Experience: minimum 5 years in a UK accountancy practice

• Qualification: ACA, ACCA or CIMA (full membership)
