What they need
Equifind is supporting a start-up credit fund to hire a Senior Fund Controller as they build out their CLO offering.
This is a role about building, not maintaining. You’ll shape how the finance function evolves as the product scales, from early ramp-up right through to a mature, fully operational issuance programme. Rather than inheriting someone else’s setup, you’ll have genuine ownership over what it looks like.
You’ll be the financial owner of the manager entity, with responsibility for the issuer vehicles, waterfalls, NAV and collateral reporting, fee income and returns on retained notes. Alongside that, you’ll build out the reporting and control framework as the platform grows.
The fund is backed by a group with serious capital and a strong track record, but you’ll be working in a newer part of the business, with plenty of influence over how it’s run and space to put your own stamp on it.
Key duties include:
- Design, build and stress-test interest and principal waterfalls across the firm's credit products, acting as the final point of challenge before figures are relied upon
- Lead and take ultimate accountability for the preparation and review of annual financial statements and issuer-level reporting packs, directing the full audit process with appointed auditors
- Own the management entity's books and records end-to-end, ensuring capital accounting is accurate and defensible across all investor classes
- Take full oversight responsibility for NAV, collateral valuation and position reporting delivered by external administrators, holding them to account on quality and timeliness
- Drive the production of quarterly management accounts, cash flow schedules and internal reporting for the group, presenting directly to senior leadership
- Own final sign-off on periodic reports from the trustee and collateral administrator ahead of distribution to investors and rating agencies
Experience required:
- Chartered accountant, preferably trained in an audit firm
- A minimum of six years experience within a CLO or leveraged finance platform
- Demonstrated experience overseeing external administrators and NAV production, including review and challenge of third-party valuations, accruals and reporting
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance
- Strong communicator
Package on offer:
The package on offer is competitive and commensurate with the market. There's also a performance-based bonus, generally considered to be at the upper end of the market when compared with competitors. The fuller benefits package can be shared with candidates during consultation.
Other offers great for you!
