Senior Cloud Database Engineer

Sr. Cloud Database Engineer | Greenville, SC

We know our purpose. What's yours?

At Purpose Financial, we believe our purpose is bigger than a job title — and for over 25 years, we've helped millions of hardworking people find financial stability. Now, we're looking for a Sr. Cloud Database Engineer who's ready to bring that same sense of purpose to the technology that powers our business.

Why work for us?

We're a Great Place To Work-Certified™ company committed to a dynamic, diverse workplace where your growth matters as much as your output. You'll be part of a team that genuinely feels like family — one that cares always, gets stuff done, and isn't afraid to go bold.

About the role

As our Sr. Cloud Database Engineer , you'll take end-to-end ownership of our cloud-native database platforms, with a primary focus on AWS. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role — perfect for someone who identifies what needs to be built, makes sound technical calls, and delivers without needing a roadmap handed to them.

What you'll own:

• Design, deployment, and management of AWS infrastructure (RDS Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, Lambda, Kafka, DMS, EC2, and more)
• Driving infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD automation to streamline how we scale
• Performance tuning and optimization across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DocumentDB environments
• Partnering across Infrastructure, Network, Integration, and Security teams on migrations to AWS and Snowflake
• Building the training curriculum and certification matrix for our Cloud Operations Center of Excellence
• Championing a culture of data-driven decisions, accountability, and collaboration

What you bring:

• 8+ years of experience in database administration, cloud administration, and DevOps
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS and Snowflake, ETL tools (Fivetran, HVR), and Kafka
• A deep understanding of database security — role-based access, encryption, auditing, and threat/vulnerability management
• A collaborative mindset and comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (AWS/database certifications a plus!)

What we offer:

• Competitive wages and comprehensive health & welfare benefits
• 401(k) with company match
• Paid parental leave, generous PTO, and volunteer time off
• Tuition reimbursement
• Hybrid workforce support
• A business casual, collaborative environment where you're valued for your contributions

Ready to build something that matters — and work with people who feel like family? Let's talk about what your purpose could look like here. 💜
