Position Title: Senior Cloud Engineer

Location Information: Onsite – Kansas City

Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a vital hands-on role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the organization's cloud and infrastructure environment. Immediate responsibilities include overseeing cloud infrastructure, managing enterprise backup and recovery processes, and supporting enterprise storage solutions to ensure system stability, availability, and security. In this role, you will:

• Administer, support, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and services to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Oversee enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including monitoring, troubleshooting backup jobs, resolving failures, and validating restoration procedures.
• Support enterprise storage environments focused on performance, capacity management, availability, and rapid issue resolution.
• Monitor infrastructure for performance, capacity, availability, and operational health using appropriate monitoring tools and practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents across cloud, storage, backup, and overall infrastructure, serving as a senior escalation resource.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including executing and testing backup and restoration processes as required.
• Assist in the provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of cloud resources to meet business and operational needs.
• Implement and maintain strong security and access controls in accordance with established standards and compliance requirements.
• Identify potential infrastructure risks, capacity limitations, and propose opportunities for operational improvements.
• Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, configuration details, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, networking, security, application, and service desk teams to resolve issues and achieve shared objectives.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship, acting as a primary point of escalation for addressing sophisticated infrastructure challenges.

Essential Skills, Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
• Proficient in implementing and supporting enterprise cloud environments, especially with platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• In-depth experience with enterprise backup and recovery systems, including monitoring and troubleshooting backup and restore operations.
• Proven skills in administering and troubleshooting enterprise storage solutions in production environments.
• Strong familiarity with Windows and/or Linux server infrastructure, with ability to manage and secure these environments.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management, security, as well as monitoring and resource management in a cloud context.
• Proficient at troubleshooting complex technical issues spanning cloud and on-premises infrastructure components.
• Understanding of best practices in disaster recovery, business continuity, and overall data protection strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and quickly become productive in a dynamic enterprise environment.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and advanced problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting infrastructure in highly regulated industries (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent cloud provider certifications (preferred).
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation or scripting tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, Python, or similar (preferred).
• Experience supporting and optimizing hybrid cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), VMware, and other enterprise infrastructure technologies is a plus.
• Background in infrastructure modernization or cloud migration projects strongly desired.
