What they need

For our client, one of the largest financial organisations in the Nordic region, we are looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team and take real ownership of the AWS Landing Zone.

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for both developing new platform capabilities and keeping the existing environment healthy, secure and reliable.

You will work on an enterprise-scale AWS environment where security, compliance and operational stability are critical. The role offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the development of the cloud platform and the way application teams use AWS.

About the team:

You will join the Cloud Platform Team, a group of cloud specialists responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise cloud platforms.

The team works closely with application teams throughout their cloud journey – from onboarding to day-to-day operations and optimisation.

Due to the nature of the business, the AWS environment operates under high standards of security, compliance and operational stability, while the team aims to provide application teams with scalable and reusable solutions rather than creating unnecessary bottlenecks.

Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining Landing Zone infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Managing configuration and automation with Ansible, Python and Bash.
  • Building central, reusable solutions at Landing Zone level that application teams can adopt with minimal effort.
  • Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for Landing Zone changes and implementing automated testing for platform components.
  • Taking an active part in day-to-day engineering, including raising and reviewing pull requests.
  • Contributing to architecture documentation and ensuring that key platform decisions are clearly documented.
  • Identifying opportunities for automation and eliminating repetitive manual work.
  • Designing the networking foundation for a multi-account AWS environment, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, route tables and Transit Gateway.
  • Building and operating hybrid connectivity between AWS and on-premises data centres using Direct Connect and Site-to-Site VPN.
  • Applying Zero Trust principles to workload and user access, including IAM, Service Control Policies and network segmentation.
  • Implementing governance guardrails and best practices using solutions such as Control Tower, Landing Zone Accelerator and organisation-level policies.
  • Developing platform observability, including dashboards for monitoring and controlling the environment.
  • Leading P1/P2 incident response, including coordinating the response, conducting root cause analysis and implementing improvements to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with strong and current AWS expertise at enterprise scale.
  • Practical experience designing and operating an AWS Landing Zone, ideally using Control Tower, Landing Zone Accelerator or an equivalent multi-account foundation.
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Solid experience with Ansible.
  • Good programming/scripting skills in Python and Bash.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of AWS networking, including:
    • VPC design,
    • Transit Gateway,
    • Direct Connect,
    • Site-to-Site VPN,
    • connectivity between AWS and on-premises environments.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles and secure access design.

Nice to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, particularly EKS.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana or ELK.
  • ITIL or similar service management experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

The offer:

  • The opportunity to work on an enterprise-scale AWS platform.
  • Real ownership and influence over the development of the cloud platform.
  • Hands-on work with AWS, infrastructure as code, automation and cloud networking.
  • Collaboration with experienced cloud and technology specialists.
  • Opportunities for continuous technical development and learning.
  • Hybrid working model, combining flexibility with regular team collaboration.
  • Attracitve benefits package and modern well located office
  • The opportunity to work in an organisation where security, reliability and quality are fundamental to the technology landscape.
