Senior Cloud Solutions Architect

Lead the Cloud Engineering team in a senior techno-commercial role focused on cloud infrastructure. The role is accountable for delivering and operating cloud, hybrid and sovereign cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and on-premises virtualisation. It drives enterprise-grade infrastructure migration and modernisation with an automation-first and AI-first approach.

The Job

• Lead and develop the Cloud Engineering team, building an automation mindset and AI-first culture.

• Own end-to-end delivery of cloud infrastructure migration and modernisation programmes on time, within budget and to quality.

• Design and deliver cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, sovereign cloud and on-premises virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V), covering compute, storage, networking, security and identity.

• Run customer infrastructure environments to agreed SLAs, leading incident, problem and change management.

• Automate infrastructure delivery and operations using infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and AIOps.

• Drive continuous improvement in reliability, security, compliance and cloud cost (FinOps).

• Provide technical and delivery leadership for RFPs and tenders, and grow managed and AI-driven infrastructure services.

• Act as the senior escalation point and trusted advisor to customers and vendors.

Entry Requirements

The Person

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.

• 12+ years in ICT infrastructure, including 5+ years in cloud infrastructure delivery and 3+ years leading teams.

• Expert in AWS and Azure infrastructure, as well as on-premises virtualisation.

• Proven track record in enterprise cloud infrastructure migration, modernisation and operations.

• Strong knowledge of AI and GenAI, including AWS and Azure AI services, AIOps, and AI-ready infrastructure (GPU, data and MLOps foundations).

• Strong automation mindset (Terraform, Ansible, DevOps) and AI-first thinking.

• Solid commercial acumen and ITIL service management knowledge.

• Experience with open-source stacks (such as OpenStack, KVM, Kubernetes and Proxmox) is an added advantage.

• Certifications such as AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, AWS/Azure AI, VMware, ITIL or PMP are an advantage.

• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
