Senior Coding Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end medical coding operations for assigned business units, clients, specialties, or service lines
• Manage and develop coding managers, team leads, quality auditors, trainers, and large teams of medical coders to achieve operational and client goals.
• Drive performance against key metrics such as productivity, quality, turnaround time, service-level adherence, attendance, utilization, and attrition.
• Ensure accurate application of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific coding guidelines, including updates to regulatory and client requirements.
• Oversee coding quality programs, internal audits, calibration sessions, error trend analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to review delivery performance, resolve escalations, and support account growth and retention.
• Collaborate with revenue cycle, billing, denial management, provider education, training, transition, and compliance teams to improve reimbursement outcomes.
• Establish governance routines including performance reviews, scorecards, dashboards, client reviews, and operational risk tracking.
• Support transitions, process migrations, new account implementations, and scaling initiatives with clear staffing and training plans.
• Build and maintain standard operating procedures, work allocation models, productivity frameworks, and quality controls.
• Identify opportunities for automation, workflow redesign, capacity planning, and continuous process improvement.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA, data privacy, information security, and organizational compliance requirements.
• Manage headcount planning, hiring, employee engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development plans to strengthen leadership bench strength and team capability.
• Prepare and present business reviews, operational insights, and improvement plans to senior leadership and clients.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's/Masters degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Information Management, Business, or a related field.
• Candidate who is a manager with 10-12+ years of experience in medical coding, healthcare operations, or revenue cycle management, with significant leadership experience in the industry
• Strong knowledge of Anesthesia, E&M with minor surgeries, Denial Management
• Relevant coding certification preferred, such as CPC, CCS, CIC, CRC, RHIT, or RHIA.
• Demonstrated experience managing large teams, multiple accounts, and complex operational environments.
• Experience with quality assurance, coding audits, client governance, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
• Working knowledge of compliance, privacy, and information security requirements applicable to healthcare operations.
• Proficiency in operational reporting tools, spreadsheets, and coding or revenue cycle platforms.
