The ideal candidate will have a proven track record overseeing construction accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management, project profitability, and financial controls. This individual must be equally comfortable managing day-to-day accounting operations and providing strategic financial guidance to executive leadership.
This is a senior-level leadership position, not an entry-level accounting or bookkeeping role.

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage company cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and financial planning.
- Provide executive leadership with financial analysis and recommendations to improve profitability.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures.
Construction Accounting & Project Financial Management
- Oversee job costing, project budgets, committed costs, and profitability reporting.
- Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Review project financial performance, cost-to-complete forecasts, and over/underbillings.
- Oversee AIA progress billings, retainage, change orders, and subcontractor payments.
- Monitor project cash flow and identify financial risks.
- Ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Accounting Operations & Compliance
- Direct and supervise accounting personnel responsible for AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Oversee monthly and annual financial closings and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate with external CPAs on tax planning, financial statements, and audits or reviews.
- Manage financial requirements related to bonding, insurance, and banking.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and contractual requirements.
Strategic Planning & Executive Support
- Work directly with ownership and executive management on financial strategy and business growth.
- Develop financial forecasts and evaluate company performance.
- Support strategic decisions involving project selection, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 5 years in commercial construction accounting.
- Prior experience as a CFO, Controller, or Director of Finance for an established commercial general contractor or construction management company.
- Advanced understanding of WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and construction financial statements.
- Demonstrated experience managing accounting teams and overseeing complete financial operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction cash flow, subcontractor payments, retainage, and AIA billing procedures.
- Proficiency in Sage 100 Contractor or comparable construction accounting software, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience coordinating with banks, bonding companies, and external CPAs.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Pinecrest, Florida.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Experience with public-sector, healthcare, educational, or institutional construction projects.
- Familiarity with Procore, e-Builder, and construction project management systems.
- Experience with financial reporting and bonding requirements for government construction contracts.
