Senior Construction Consultant

About the role

Baracus Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Building Consultant to act as the independent, client-side Senior Construction Consultant and QA/QC Superintendent for the modular building unit construction project located at the manufacturer's facility in Penang, Malaysia. The Consultant shall perform the services with the professional skill, care, and diligence expected of a qualified engineer/construction manager.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the sole authorized technical liaison between the Principal and the primary building company (Manufacturer)
• Conduct physical on-site inspections at the Penang manufacturing facility at a minimum frequency of three (3) days per week, or more as required by critical production milestones
• Review, audit, and cross-verify all construction phases against approved architectural plans, structural engineering designs, and technical specifications
• Pressure-test all embedded plumbing lines and manifold systems prior to insulation wall-closure
• Inspect electrical conduit pathways, junction boxes, and wire-pull schemas against MEP layouts
• Verify compliance with international/local fire-stopping and containment insulation standards
• Enforce mandatory QA/QC Hold Points during the modular fabrication process and provide explicit, written sign-off before the building company proceeds past these stages
• Verify steel member dimensions, gauge thickness, and alignment against structural engineering drawings
• Inspect 100% of critical structural weld categories and bolt torque certifications
• Confirm anti-corrosion primer coating thickness (DFT) meets coastal environment specifications

About you

• Minimum of 5 years of senior experience as a qualified engineer/construction manager
