What they need

As part of our continued growth, Bryant is seeking a Senior Contract Administrator to join our team in Yeppoon, on Queensland’s beautiful Capricorn Coast, and support future project delivery across the region.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for the end-to-end commercial and contractual administration of construction projects, from award through to final completion and close-out. This role manages contract compliance, subcontractor packages, variations, claims, and payment processes across one or more projects, ensuring commercial outcomes are protected and contractual risk is proactively managed.

Whether you live locally or you’ve been thinking about a sea change, this is your opportunity to make it happen without stepping back in your career. Our Yeppoon office is close to the beach, so a lunchtime walk along the foreshore or a sunset after work can become part of your everyday routine. With the Southern Great Barrier Reef and Great Keppel Island on the doorstep, a relaxed coastal community and Rockhampton’s services and airport within easy reach, Yeppoon offers the lifestyle many people dream about, paired with challenging, rewarding work on significant projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer head contracts and subcontracts in accordance with contractual terms, relevant legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract and supplier agreements, scopes of work, and trade packages.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for subcontract packages, including tendering, scope comparisons, and letting recommendations.
  • Prepare and assess progress claims, payment schedules, and payment certificates for head contracts and subcontracts.
  • Identify, prepare, and negotiate variations and extension of time (EOT) claims, ensuring accurate substantiation and timely notification.
  • Monitor and manage contractual notices, timeframes, and obligations to protect the company’s commercial position.
  • Maintain accurate contract registers, correspondence logs, and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Support project cost reporting, including cost-to-complete forecasts, budget tracking, and monthly commercial reporting.
  • Manage retention, bank guarantees, insurances, and bonds in line with contractual requirements.
  • Assist in the resolution of disputes, claims, and contractual issues, escalating and liaising with legal counsel where required.
  • Review and advise on the commercial and contractual risks of tender and contract documentation prior to execution.
  • Mentor and provide technical/contractual guidance to Contract Administrators and junior commercial staff (as required).
  • Liaise with clients, principals’ representatives, and subcontractors to maintain positive commercial relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ contractual obligations across managed packages.
  • Support project completion, including the preparation of handover documentation to the Client.
  • Support project close-out, including finalisation of accounts, defect liability administration, and final payment claims.
  • Ensure design documentation is controlled and maintained in the document management platform (Procore)

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Contract Administrator within commercial building/construction, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Strong contractual and commercial acumen, with sound understanding of construction law principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Demonstrated experience administering both head contracts (e.g. AS4000, AS4902) and subcontracts across commercial building projects.
  • Proven track record managing variations, EOT claims, and progress claims on projects typically ranging from $5M-$25M+.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to manage disputes and claims professionally and constructively.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and formal correspondence.
  • Proficient in contract/cost management software (e.g. Jobpac, Procore highly regarded) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability, with a collaborative approach to working with project teams.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Security of Payment legislation and standard construction contract forms (AS4000, AS4902, AS2124, or state equivalents).
