Senior Controls Engineer

Talyx Search is partnering with a well-established Dallas-based manufacturer of engineered industrial equipment. They design and build custom, integrated systems for a wide range of customer applications, and their engineering team is involved from first concept through to commissioning in the field. This is a chance to join a hands-on team where your work goes out the door and runs in real-world installations.

The Role

As Senior Controls Engineer, you'll own the controls side of custom-built systems across the full project lifecycle. You'll work alongside sales, production, mechanical, and electrical engineering to design, program, and support PLC and HMI solutions that integrate cleanly and perform reliably. You'll also be a go-to technical resource for the wider team and help bring junior engineers along.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing and writing PLC code across platforms including Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and Eaton
• Building HMI applications on Schneider, Red Lion, and Delta platforms
• Setting up, configuring, and programming VFDs
• Designing control solutions that bring motors, pumps, valves, and instrumentation together into a single, working system
• Supporting customers and reps at all levels of technical knowledge
• Traveling to customer sites for startups, installations, and troubleshooting
• Keeping clear, accurate documentation of control designs, configurations, and code
• Mentoring and leading junior engineers and designers
• Pushing continuous improvement in how control systems are designed and delivered

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related discipline
• A solid grasp of electrical principles, power distribution, and control system calculations
• Hands-on programming experience with Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Sequential Function Chart

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming standards
• Familiarity with UL 508A control panel standards
• Experience working to NFPA 70 (NEC)
• CAD experience with AutoCAD or EPLAN
• Some background in VBA, .NET, SQL, or Python

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
