Senior Controls Software Design Engineer

We are looking for two Senior Controls Software Design Engineers to support an international automation project that involves the delivery and integration of an automated production line or machine at the customer site.

One engineer will focus primarily on Siemens TIA Portal and PLC programming, while the second will focus on ABB Robotics; candidates with experience across both PLC and robotics technologies will be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, configure and integrate controls software for automated machinery and production equipment.
• Develop PLC software using Siemens TIA Portal.
• Programme and integrate ABB robots within automated systems.
• Support the integration of Cognex vision technology where required.
• Participate in system testing, start-up and integration activities in Cambridge, Canada.
• Conduct FAT and SAT activities.
• Support equipment installation and commissioning at the customer site in Wettingen.
• Diagnose and resolve controls, software and automation issues.
• Perform on-site troubleshooting during integration and commissioning.

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional background as a Controls Engineer, Controls Software Designer, Automation Engineer or PLC Programmer.
• Strong hands-on expertise in at least one of the following areas:

-Siemens TIA Portal and PLC programming

-ABB robot programming and integration

• Senior-level professional experience in controls, automation, or software engineering.
• Proven experience within plant engineering, industrial automation or systems integration.
• Experience working with automated machinery, production lines, or special-purpose equipment.
• Experience across the equipment lifecycle, including design, deployment, integration, maintenance and lifecycle support.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
• Experience with the integration and commissioning of complex machinery.
• Fluent in both English and German
