Senior Cost Controller

Job Summary:

Efor is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our European Project Controls Team. This position is primarily remote, with occasional ad hoc travel to project sites as required. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solution-oriented, and well-versed in all elements of cost management for major capital life science projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expertise across all phases of the project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning – EPCmV), focusing on project cost management and control.
• Convert approved project estimates into cost control budgets and integrate them into the project cost system according to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Maintain the integrity of the cost management database, ensuring data accuracy for decision-making.
• Monitor, track, and report on project costs – including control budgets, actual spend, changes, and forecasts.
• Prepare and deliver regular and ad hoc cost reports to project management, supporting timely and informed decision-making.
• Assist in the identification, analysis, and resolution of issues related to cost overruns, trends, and risks.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather and analyze cost data.
• Ensure compliance with cost estimating and control procedures across assigned projects.
• Support resource scheduling and cost estimating by discipline and cost center.
• Contribute to benchmarking, change management, and the implementation of best practices in project cost control.
• Provide guidance and support to junior cost engineers when required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cost control within major capital projects in the life science sector (biotech or pharmaceutical industries preferred).
• Demonstrated skill in analyzing and solving complex problems, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Previous experience in Life Sciences is a plus
• Proficiency in cost management software, Microsoft Office (especially advanced Excel), and experience with Ariba, SAP, and Primavera Unifier considered advantageous.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong collaboration with geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and changes.
• Willingness and ability to travel on an as-needed basis.
