Senior Credit Controller

We are partnering with a well-established and growing business in Hampshire that is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded professional who enjoys building strong relationships, improving processes and driving cash collection performance.

Reporting into the Credit Manager/Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key accounts whilst supporting the wider credit function to ensure debtor days are minimised and cash flow remains strong.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and collecting outstanding debts across a large customer portfolio
• Proactively chasing overdue payments via telephone, email and written correspondence
• Building strong relationships with customers to resolve payment queries efficiently
• Undertaking account reconciliations and resolving disputed invoices
• Reviewing and assessing customer credit limits and making recommendations where appropriate
• Producing aged debt reports and communicating collection performance to senior stakeholders
• Escalating high-risk accounts and recommending appropriate action
• Supporting month-end processes, including reporting and cash forecasting
• Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes and procedures
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the credit control team

About You

• Previous experience in a Senior Credit Controller or Credit Control role
• Strong track record of reducing aged debt and improving cash collection performance
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Confident negotiating payment terms and handling challenging conversations
• Strong attention to detail and account reconciliation experience
• Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
• Professional, resilient and results-driven approach
