We're working with a technology-focused business investing in the future of its data architecture. They're looking for an experienced Senior Data Architect to modernise their data foundations, improve accessibility and create a platform ready for AI-driven innovation. You'll work directly with the CTO, taking ownership of both strategy and delivery.

Role Overview

• Location: Remote, candidates must be based in the UK.
• Package: £700- £800 per day Outside IR35.
• Contract Length: 3 months initially with intention to extend further.
• Start Date: 26th October 2026

What You’ll Be Doing

• Review the existing data landscape, identifying architectural gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Design a modern, scalable data architecture that brings together legacy systems and enables more effective data consumption.
• Develop an API-first approach, ensuring data can be securely and efficiently accessed across multiple applications and users.
• Assess the organisation's readiness for AI and explore technologies such as vector databases and retrieval-based solutions.
• Create a clear technical roadmap, translating architectural recommendations into practical delivery milestones.
• Work closely with the CTO to influence technical strategy and make key architectural decisions.
• Engage directly with customers to understand their requirements and communicate solutions clearly.
• Introduce new approaches, processes and AI-enabled capabilities to support ongoing innovation.

Main Skills Needed

• Extensive experience as a Senior Data Architect, ideally working across multiple organisations or complex data environments.
• Proven experience assessing existing data estates and translate findings into actionable architecture strategies is essential.
• Hands-on knowledge of AI-ready data architectures, including vector databases, embeddings and retrieval-based technologies is essential.
• Strong background in modernising legacy data platforms, including data consolidation, integration and restructuring.
• Excellent understanding of API-first architecture and designing data solutions for multiple consumers.
• Experience managing the full architectural lifecycle, from initial assessment through to implementation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working directly with senior technology leaders and customers.
• A pragmatic, adaptable approach, with the ability to navigate evolving requirements and deliver improvements incrementally.
• Desirable experience in consultancy environments, greenfield data programmes or data governance and security.
