Senior Data Center MEP Project Manager

About the Role

Oppidan is seeking an experienced Senior Data Center MEP Project Manager to oversee the planning, construction, commissioning, testing, and turnover of mission-critical data center projects. This individual will serve as Oppidan's onsite technical representative for all MEP systems and commissioning activities, ensuring quality, reliability, and operational readiness prior to turnover to owners and operations teams.

This position is primarily in-office (4 days per week), with one remote workday per week permitted in accordance with company policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead MEP construction activities from design review through project turnover.
• Serve as Oppidan's representative during commissioning and integrated systems testing.
• Coordinate with commissioning agents, contractors, vendors, controls providers, and project teams.
• Review commissioning plans, scripts, schedules, and turnover documentation.
• Witness and validate functional performance testing and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Ensure deficiencies are properly documented, assigned, tracked, and resolved.
• Review and verify BMS (Building Management Systems), EPMS (Energy Performance Management Systems), PLC controls, alarm strategies, and sequences of operation.
• Support project scheduling, project controls, and turnover milestones.
• Conduct field inspections to verify work quality and compliance with design intent.
• Develop lessons learned and ensure issues are not repeated on future projects.
• Support transition from construction to operations.
• Work with manufacturers to find alternative options to ensure schedules are met.
• Sustainability and energy consumption or something along those lines (pee wees)

Qualifications & Experience

Required

· 7+ years of MEP, commissioning, construction management, or mission-critical facilities experience.

· 5+ years working on data center projects.

· Experience managing electrical and mechanical scopes simultaneously.

· Demonstrated experience leading commissioning and integrated systems testing.

· Experience managing contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning providers.

· Travel: 20-40% as per project requirements

· Experience with:

o Medium-voltage distribution systems

o Switchgear and transformers

o UPS systems

o Generators and ATS systems

o CRAH/CRAC cooling systems

o Chilled water systems

o BMS and EPMS platforms

o Fire detection and life-safety systems

Preferred

· Ability to read, interpret, influence and modify:

o Electrical one-line diagrams

o Control diagrams

o Cause-and-effect matrices

o Sequences of operation

o Mechanical and electrical drawings

o Specifications and submittals

· Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

· Medium and High voltage distribution systems

· Ability to identify commissioning gaps and construction risks before turnover.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary range of $180,000-$230,000, based on experience
