Senior Data Engineer

Hi, I'm Fabian, CPO at Intact – the world's leading software provider for the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to build the data foundation for the next generation of our product.

We have years of operational data on audits, certifications, standards, evidence, findings and organizations. Much of it is still locked in systems built to run workflows. We want to turn it into a trusted, scalable product asset.

You'll design the pipelines, models, quality mechanisms and infrastructure that make this data available for analytics, product features, AI/ML and customer-facing insights.

This is not a reporting role or a ticket queue. You'll help build a modern data platform that becomes part of the product itself. It will connect legacy and modern systems as Intact transforms domain by domain. You'll work closely with our Head of Data & AI, Product, Engineering and Applied AI/ML colleagues, and with teams around the world.

ARE YOU READY?

• Build reliable, scalable and cost-efficient pipelines from legacy and modern product systems into Intact's analytical data platform
• Develop reusable transformations with clear layers between raw, transformed and consumption-ready data
• Build robust Change Data Capture patterns for incremental processing, schema evolution and historical correctness
• Design canonical analytical models for key business entities, events and relationships
• Ensure data quality with automated tests, observability, lineage, monitoring and failure recovery
• Provide trusted data for product analytics, experimentation, AI training, evaluation and retrieval
• Help new product domains become data-ready from the start
• Design mechanisms for access control, retention, deletion, anonymization and pseudonymization
• Work with data consumers to make important datasets discoverable and understandable
• Treat data engineering as software engineering, with version control, code review, automated testing and CI/CD

ARE YOU THE ONE?

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years building and operating production data systems, ideally owning them from source to consumer
• Experience designing modern cloud data architectures (warehouses or lakehouses) with a strong focus on performance, scalability and cost
• Advanced SQL and Python (or another data-engineering language)
• Strong skills in ELT/ETL, reusable transformations and dimensional, relational and analytical data modeling
• Hands-on experience with Change Data Capture, incremental processing, schema evolution and batch or near-real-time processing
• Experience with automated data-quality testing, monitoring, lineage, CI/CD and systems that recover from failures predictably
• Solid understanding of data contracts, security, privacy and access control
• Systems thinker with pragmatic judgment and a strong sense of ownership, curious about the business meaning behind the data and able to explain trade-offs to non-specialists
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
