About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and support cloud data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytics solutions. This role combines hands-on development with responsibility for data quality, reliability, security, and performance.

You will work with analysts, product owners, automation engineers, and architects to translate business requirements into reliable data products. The ideal candidate brings strong SQL and Python skills, production experience with Snowflake and Informatica IICS , and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. This role is located in Costa Rica.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL and ELT pipelines that integrate data across enterprise systems.
• Build and maintain Snowflake data warehouses and reusable data models.
• Develop data integration workflows using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) , including Cloud Data Integration (CDI) and Cloud Application Integration (CAI).
• Create analytics-ready datasets for business reporting, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries and Python scripts for data transformation and automation.
• Implement data quality checks, automated testing, pipeline monitoring, and alerting.
• Support CI/CD pipelines , version control, and automated deployments using Git and Azure DevOps .
• Improve pipeline performance and manage cloud data platform costs.
• Apply data governance, security, and compliance standards.
• Document data lineage, transformations, data models, and operational processes.
• Partner with business and technical teams to define requirements and resolve data issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to data engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, software development, or automation engineering, with hands-on experience building data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python .
• Production experience with Snowflake and Informatica IICS .
• Experience developing cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses .
• Strong understanding of data modeling , including Kimball or Inmon methodologies.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment practices .
• Familiarity with Azure Data Services, Azure DevOps, and Power BI .
• Understanding of data governance, data security, data lineage, and data observability .
• Ability to translate business and operational needs into automated data solutions.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.
• Fluency in English and Spanish .
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Costa Rica .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
• Experience implementing monitoring and alerting for data platforms.
• Knowledge of DataOps, FinOps, and cloud cost optimization .
• Experience supporting business intelligence and analytics teams.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
