Senior Data Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Mostly Remote; Onsite Once Per Month)

Compensation: $180,000–$200,000 plus bonus

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the development and optimization of modern data pipelines, data models, and Snowflake-based semantic layers supporting analytics and AI initiatives. This individual will serve as a technical leader, providing code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, leading Agile ceremonies, and helping elevate data engineering best practices across the team.

Candidates must reside in Los Angeles or Orange County and be available to work onsite once per month. Out-of-state candidates will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow, and AWS.
• Develop and optimize data models, including Kimball dimensional modeling.
• Build and manage Snowflake semantic layers to support analytics, business intelligence, and AI use cases.
• Conduct code reviews, establish engineering standards, and promote best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and train team members on modern data engineering tools and methodologies.
• Lead Agile ceremonies and collaborate with stakeholders to drive technical alignment and delivery.
• Explore emerging AI capabilities within Snowflake, including AI agents and related infrastructure.
• Help establish scalable data engineering processes with potential to grow into a formal management role.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and data platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow, and AWS.
• Solid understanding of dimensional data modeling, particularly Kimball methodology.
• Experience developing semantic layers and preparing data for analytics and AI applications.
• Proven ability to conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and influence engineering best practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments and leading team ceremonies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to train and collaborate with technical and nontechnical teams.
