AI Futures has been engaged to find a Senior Data Engineer for a major German media and advertising organisation - a company with one of the largest premium digital and out-of-home advertising networks in the country, and a data platform that is central to how it operates at scale.

The company

A scaled German media group with over 750 employees, operating across digital and out-of-home advertising at national scale. Their data platform underpins audience intelligence, programmatic delivery, and commercial analytics across a premium inventory network - and they are investing heavily in its next phase, including the integration of AI-driven capabilities built on top of it.

The role

You will help build and operate the cloud data platform that the business depends on - designing pipelines, enforcing data quality, and making the infrastructure robust enough that data scientists and analytics engineers can build on it with confidence. You will work alongside a Lead Data Platform and cross-functional teams, contributing to architecture decisions and shaping how the platform evolves.

What you’ll do

• Build and operate scalable data platforms using Databricks, Apache Spark, and Azure Data Services
• Design and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and integrations across domains
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and automated testing frameworks
• Shape CI/CD and deployment processes using Git, infrastructure as code, and automated build and release pipelines
• Support architecture decisions and platform development alongside the Lead Data Platform
• Collaborate with data scientists, analytics engineers, and business units to translate technical capability into scalable data and AI solutions

What you’ll bring

• Several years of experience building and operating modern cloud data platforms in production
• Strong Python and SQL, plus hands-on ETL/ELT, data modelling, and data integration experience
• Solid CI/CD practice: Git, infrastructure as code, automated build/test/deploy pipelines
• Knowledge of data quality methods, pipeline monitoring, and technical root cause analysis
• Ability to develop and own architectural solutions independently
• Clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable

• Databricks, Apache Spark, or Azure Data Services in a production environment
• Experience in media, advertising technology, or data-intensive B2B platforms
• Exposure to AI or ML platform integration — working alongside data scientists on shared infrastructure
