Role Purpose:

Lead the design, delivery, and operation of Mobility Insight's data lakehouse, data pipelines, data-quality framework, and commercial data-product foundations. The Data Lead turns host, customer, vehicle, GPS, telematics, mobile, and external data into governed, reliable, reusable intelligence assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the target data architecture and roadmap for Data Lake V1, commercial data-lake expansion, analytics sandboxes, curated datasets, and product-ready data marts.
• Lead ingestion and standardization of data from Toyota and TCAP, SCGJWD, True Leasing and Wonder Matics, customers, GPS providers, telematics, mobile applications, cameras, sensors, and external sources.
• Design and operate scalable batch, near-real-time, and event-processing pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark/PySpark, and appropriate AWS services.
• Implement formal data-quality measurement covering completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness, GPS accuracy, interval grading, continuity, anomaly detection, and product-readiness classification.
• Define canonical data models for drivers, vehicles, trips, events, routes, locations, fuel, work time, safety, scores, tenants, customers, and external hazards.
• Develop secure aggregation and edge-processing patterns, including anonymization, H3 or geographic aggregation, time buckets, containerized processing, and controlled transfer of non-raw outputs.
• Build datasets and feature pipelines for Driver Score, Safety Score, Eco Score, route risk, insurance, traffic heatmaps, origin-destination analysis, location intelligence, and customer-specific analytics.
• Establish metadata, catalog, lineage, dataset versioning, data contracts, retention, access classification, and evidence required for ATSG and PDPA compliance.
• Define SLAs, monitoring, alerting, recovery, and cost-optimization standards for production data pipelines and customer deliverables.
• Partner with AI/ML, Full-Stack, DevOps, QA, and commercial teams to convert business requirements into testable data specifications and customer-ready outputs.
• Lead technical discussions with host data owners and providers to resolve field definitions, frequency, coverage, quality, and integration dependencies.
• Mentor Data Engineers, conduct reviews, enforce documentation and testing standards, and build a strong data-engineering practice.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, data warehouses, lakehouses, or analytics engineering.
• Strong practical Python and SQL capability and experience building reliable ETL/ELT or streaming pipelines.
• Experience with AWS data services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, EMR, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, partitioning, performance optimization, metadata, testing, and production monitoring.
• Ability to lead technical work, manage ambiguity, and translate incomplete source data into realistic product recommendations.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with mobility, GPS, telematics, connected-vehicle, IoT, logistics, insurance, geospatial, or time-series data.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, Kafka, Kinesis, geospatial frameworks, or H3 indexing.
• Experience with secure data collaboration, anonymization, privacy-preserving analytics, or edge processing.
• Familiarity with BI tools, feature stores, MLOps, data contracts, and API-based data delivery.
• Experience supporting ATSG, ISO 27001, PDPA, or enterprise audit requirements.
