Senior Data Engineer + Database Administrator

About the Project

Our client is a US-based SaaS platform in the eCommerce intelligence and brand protection domain. The platform helps large brands with market monitoring, pricing enforcement, analytics, and automated decision-making at scale.

The product has been on the market for around 10 years and is currently going through deep architectural modernization. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys database performance optimization, ETL improvements, complex SQL tuning, and working on scalable data-intensive systems.

In the coming months, the engineer will be responsible for:

• Design and optimize SQL queries
• Develop and support ETL processes
• Administer PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Design data schemas
• Analyze database performance
• Participate in migrations and infrastructure development
• Discussing the transition from Yellowbrick to a new analytics platform
• Conducting a Proof of Concept with ClickHouse
• Infrastructure migration to AWS
• Configuring DBMS parameters
• Monitoring CPU, memory, and performance
• Replication control
• Setting up buffers and PostgreSQL configuration

Requirements:

• At least 5 years hands-on experience supporting multi-tenant database systems in a high-availability and high-volume environment
• Advanced SQL skills with proven experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and optimizing query performance (5+ years of experience)
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL processes and data transformation pipelines (2+ years of experience)
• AWS cloud services (2+ years of experience)
• Experience supporting PostgreSQL and MySQL systems in cloud or data center environments (2+ years of experience)
• Linux
