Senior Data Engineer - GCP + BigQuery

GCP Data Engineer (BigQuery)

Contract | 2 - 3 months | Fully remote, UK or Europe | Up to £310 a day (Outside IR35 / B2B) | Start ASAP

A London-based research-tech platform wants a Data Engineer to build its data platform from scratch on GCP, with BigQuery as the single source of truth.

You’ll bring together data from the core product, CRM, finance, events and marketing tools, and join it into one golden record. The business will report on it and the AI team will build on it. The data is small, so this is about getting the design right, not handling scale.

You’ll own it end to end: ingestion, integration code, transformations and the model. There’s a first-pass design document to start from, but they want your view on it, not a rubber stamp. You’ll work directly with the CTO.

What you’ll need

• Hands-on BigQuery and GCP (Cloud Run or Cloud Functions, Scheduler, IAM)
• Production Python against APIs, tested and in version control
• dbt or Dataform
• You’ve built a warehouse from scratch before, ideally as the only data person
• You build things a small team can run once you’ve gone

Nice to have: Xero or CRM APIs, MySQL and MongoDB sources, matching records across systems, GDPR in BigQuery, Terraform.

One interview: an hour talking through how you’d approach the build.
