Your Task

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced German-speaking Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join this dynamically developing business in Hungary. The aim of the project is to provide a high quality digital customer experience and to develop modern infrastructures, providing the necessary professional knowledge. As a member of the existing team, you will work on various projects, typically in MS Fabric or Databricks based environments. The projects support data-driven decision making for midsize and large enterprise customers in the DACH region, from surveying the architecture to delivering a working data platform.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, cloud-native data architectures for Databricks or MS Fabric platforms
• Create data models, schemas and storage patterns (lakehouse, Delta, Parquet)
• Design the loading pipelines for batch and streaming data
• Define the ETL/ELT processes and transformation strategy
• Introduce solutions for data governance, data lineage and metadata management
• Optimize performance, costs and resource usage
• Set up the monitoring, alerting system and operational runbooks
• Collaborate with data architects, data analysts and business stakeholders

Your Profile

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Data Engineer with strong expertise in cloud data platforms, data engineering, and data modeling, along with excellent communication skills and German language proficiency for working with DACH region clients.

Must Have Skills

• Strong experience with cloud data platforms: MS Fabric or Databricks
• Strong data engineering experience with SQL
• Strong data engineering experience with Python
• Strong data engineering experience with PySpark
• Strong experience in ETL/ELT design
• Strong experience in data modeling: dimensional, normalized and lakehouse patterns
• Experience with orchestration tools: Airflow or Azure Data Factory
• Experience with CI/CD tools and GitOps pipelines
• Experience in performance optimization (query optimization, cluster scaling)
• Experience in cost optimization
• First experience with streaming solutions: Kafka, Event Hubs or similar
• First experience with messaging solutions: Kafka, Event Hubs or similar
• Relevant experience in data visualization, such as building Power BI dashboards
• High degree of autonomy and responsible work
• Problem-solving approach
• Very good communication skills
• Confident stakeholder-communication skills
• Proficiency in German at least at B2 level
• Proficiency in English at C1 level
