Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric & Snowflake

We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our client as a consultant. You'll work at the center of their data platform strategy, building and running secure, scalable batch and real-time data solutions across Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake.

This is a hands-on role covering everything from ingestion and transformation to orchestration, deployment, monitoring, and governance — working closely with Data, BI, Analytics, and AI/ML teams. If you also have exposure to AI/ML and how governed data feeds model development, that's a strong plus.

What you'll do

• Design and build batch and streaming pipelines across Fabric and Snowflake, picking the right platform and pattern for each workload
• Work across OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Spark notebooks in Fabric, alongside native Snowflake ingestion and transformation
• Build real-time/near-real-time pipelines using Kafka, Azure Event Hub, or similar
• Optimize performance and cost — warehouse sizing, clustering, query tuning, Spark and capacity usage
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices across Dev, Test, UAT, and Production
• Monitor pipelines and jobs, handle failures with retries and recovery, and drive root-cause fixes
• Apply security and governance controls — RBAC, encryption, masking, and GDPR-aligned practices

What you bring

• 8+ years of data engineering experience
• Deep hands-on Snowflake experience (warehouses, streams, tasks, Snowpipe, RBAC, time travel, etc.)
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience (OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks)
• Advanced Python and Spark/PySpark skills
• Strong SQL — complex transformations, optimization, performance tuning
• Experience with real-time streaming pipelines (Kafka, Event Hub, or equivalent)
• Solid grasp of CI/CD, GitHub-based version control, and environment promotion
• Comfortable working independently in a consulting setup
• Bonus: familiarity with AI/ML concepts, Snowpark, Cortex, or Fabric's Data Science capabilities
