Keyrus is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team in Hong Kong and support a major banking database migration programme from PostgreSQL to AWS.

We are looking for an experienced, hands on Data Engineer who has ideally worked on similar database or cloud migration projects within banking or financial services environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support PostgreSQL database migration to AWS

• Assess existing databases, schemas, dependencies and workloads

• Design and execute migration approaches using Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS Database Migration Service

• Manage data migration, validation, reconciliation and performance optimisation

• Support testing, cutover, production deployment and stabilisation

• Ensure data integrity, security and minimal disruption to critical banking systems

• Work closely with application, cloud, infrastructure, security and architecture teams

Key Requirements

• 4-7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering or similar roles

• Strong hands on PostgreSQL and SQL expertise

• Proven experience migrating PostgreSQL or enterprise databases to AWS

• Strong experience with AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS Database Migration Service

• Experience with production critical database migration projects

• Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, performance optimisation and troubleshooting

• Previous banking or financial services experience strongly preferred

• Experience with similar cloud or database migration programmes within a bank would be a strong advantage

• Python, Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS certifications are advantageous

The ideal candidate is a senior hands on consultant who can independently drive migration activities and is comfortable working within the security, governance and change management requirements of a banking environment.

Candidates should be based in Hong Kong or available to work onsite in Hong Kong for the duration of the assignment.
