Senior Enterprise Data Architect (Consultant)

We are supporting a complex engineering transformation programme in (Secure Government) built on a domain driven data architecture, and we are looking for a Senior Enterprise Data Architect to help lead the data design.

This is a role for someone who sits comfortably between business architecture, data modelling and modern cloud delivery. You will define data domain boundaries aligned to business capabilities, drive logical to physical data mappings, design enterprise canonical models, and work alongside cross functional fusion teams to deploy data models and services across a varied application landscape.

What you will do

Shape data mesh strategy and federated governance. You will align domain boundaries to business capabilities and value streams, define reusable Data Products and formal Data Contracts, and partner with central governance teams to establish automated policies and standardised data dictionaries using tools such as Collibra.

Own the modelling. You will build and maintain system agnostic enterprise data models at conceptual and logical levels, apply MBSE and tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, ER/Studio or Hackolade, design source to target mappings, and extract definitions from legacy platforms such as SAP and Oracle using tools such as Safyr. You will define canonical schemas and master data models using established patterns including the Party Pattern and MDM match and merge logic.

Connect the landscape. Using LeanIX, Ardoq, Bizzdesign or TOGAF and ArchiMate, you will map capabilities, applications, data lineage and technology lifecycles, and architect the integration layers linking core and legacy platforms.

Support cloud and event driven delivery. You will develop event schemas (Avro, JSON Schema, Protobuf) for streaming platforms such as Kafka, AWS EventBridge or Azure Event Hubs, and work with DevOps teams to automate deployment through CI/CD pipelines with security and compliance built in.

What we are looking for

Ten or more years in enterprise data architecture, delivering data design on large scale transformation programmes in complex environments. Practical experience applying the four pillars of Data Mesh, hands on modelling expertise across the tools above, and a track record designing integrations across major ERP and SaaS platforms (Salesforce, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle) and MDM solutions such as Informatica. A degree in a technical field. DAMA membership or BCS Practitioner in Enterprise and Solution Architecture is an advantage.

Active UK Security Clearance (SC), or clear eligibility to obtain it, is essential for this role.
