We are hiring for one of our reputed MNC for a role in Johannesburg, South Africa

This a contract role for a minimum duration of 6 months

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions for large-scale operational and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in machine learning, predictive analytics, optimization, and data-driven decision-making, with the ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning and AI models for business and operational optimization.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and engineering teams to identify high-value AI opportunities.
• Analyze large and complex datasets to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
• Build predictive, prescriptive, and optimization models to improve operational efficiency and performance.
• Develop data pipelines and model deployment strategies in collaboration with Data Engineering teams.
• Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve model performance in production environments.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support AI solution architecture and best practices across the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8-12+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Advanced Analytics.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python and the broader data science ecosystem.
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and model development.
• Strong experience in Statistical Modeling, Predictive Analytics, and Data Mining.
• Proven experience in Time-Series Forecasting and developing predictive models for business and operational use cases.
• Hands-on experience building, deploying, and monitoring ML models in production environments.
• Experience with Azure Machine Learning and MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, versioning, and lifecycle management.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and optimization.
• Experience working with large and complex structured and unstructured datasets.
• Knowledge of Data Engineering concepts and collaboration with engineering teams for scalable AI solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a client-facing consulting environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, processing, energy, utilities, or operational environments.
• Exposure to operational optimization, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and AI-driven decision-making.
• Experience working with sensor, IoT, or operational data streams.
• Familiarity with cloud-native AI architectures and enterprise-scale analytics platforms
