Role Description The Senior Database Administrator is a part-time, remote role responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing the company’s databases that support retail operations and online sales. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing backup and recovery strategies to ensure high availability and data integrity. The role involves designing and maintaining database structures, collaborating with development and IT teams on data modeling, and ensuring that database changes follow best practices. The Senior Database Administrator will also analyze data usage patterns, recommend improvements for scalability, and contribute to documentation, standards, and compliance with security and privacy requirements.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and Databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
• Candidates should possess expertise in Database Design and Data Modeling to support scalable, reliable, and well-structured data solutions.
• Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to diagnose issues, optimize queries, and interpret operational data for continuous improvement.
• Experience with relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and familiarity with cloud-based database services is beneficial.
• Knowledge of SQL, database monitoring tools, and best practices for data security and privacy is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time schedules effectively, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
