Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our fast-paced and self-accountable team that delivers enterprise-level solutions for local and global markets. You will take ownership of business-critical Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments. This means more than keeping them running: you will analyze bottlenecks, build lasting solutions, own the change process and lead how the database architecture evolves to meet future needs.

What will you do?

• Managing installation, configuration, maintenance and day-to-day operations of SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases across dev, test, UAT, production and DR environments
• Running high-availability architectures, mainly SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and PostgreSQL Patroni clusters, and keeping them healthy and ready for failover
• Planning and executing upgrades, migrations, patching and version transitions, including safe, controlled modernization of legacy systems
• Owning backup, restore, PITR, log shipping and DR processes in line with RPO/RTO targets, and planning, running and reporting the annual DR tests
• Analyzing and tuning performance (execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, DMVs, wait statistics, blocking, deadlocks, pg_stat_statements, vacuum and bloat)
• Optimizing stored procedures and complex queries, and setting SQL coding, review and change standards together with the development teams
• Monitoring and improving CDC and logical replication pipelines (replication slots, WAL retention, lag, data consistency)
• Building a central PostgreSQL toolkit covering inventory, health, backups, replication, CDC status, maintenance and alerting
• Automating repetitive operational work with scripts, jobs and self-service tooling
• Owning database change, incident and problem management end to end, including root cause analysis, rollback plans and post-incident reports
• Proactively monitoring and preparing for peak business periods such as month-end and month-start
• Working closely with application, system, network, security, DevOps and data teams

What are we looking for?

A candidate with 5+ years of professional DBA experience and a degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related field, with the following skills:

• Advanced administration of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server Always On AG, synchronous/asynchronous replication, log shipping and DR/failover/failback processes
• Strong SQL Server performance tuning skills (execution plans, Query Store, wait statistics, index and statistics maintenance, blocking and deadlock analysis)
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL backup and recovery, WAL, vacuum/autovacuum and replication
• Hands-on experience with Patroni-based HA (failover, switchover, replica management, pg_rewind)
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL logical replication and CDC processes
• Database security: role and permission management, least privilege, auditing, SSL/TLS, TDE and data encryption
• Linux administration and automation with Bash or Python
• Experience working with monitoring and alerting tools
• Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to write operational runbooks

Experience in these topics/technologies will be a bonus!

• Working with legacy application stacks and optimizing legacy systems safely
• DCS technologies such as etcd or Consul
• Data integration with Azure Data Factory or similar tools, and replacing Linked Server dependencies
• Workload isolation and Resource Governor
• Database CI/CD, versioned and reversible schema changes
• Microsoft or PostgreSQL certifications
