Senior Database Administrator (MySQL/PostgreSQL)

Role & responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in both clustered and standalone environments.
• Provision and manage database instances across cloud platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure Database, or GCP Cloud SQL.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot MySQL/PostgreSQL replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Perform database upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, restore, and disaster recovery activities.
• Lead database migration projects from on-premises to cloud using native and third-party migration tools.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing, storage engines, and server resources for maximum efficiency.
• Ensure database security, user access management, compliance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot database issues, replication lag, locking, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks.
• Develop and maintain database operational documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell scripting and database administration tools.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to support production environments.
• Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery solutions for critical databases.

Good-to-Have Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Configure and support Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, and Failover Clustering.
• Perform SQL Server upgrades, backup/recovery, and cloud migration activities.
• Support and migrate workloads involving Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
• Optimize SQL Server performance, security, and database maintenance processes.

Preferred candidate profile:

• 6+ years of DBA experience in MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Databases (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong expertise in replication, clustering, HA, backup, recovery, and migration.
• Experience with SQL Server administration is highly preferred.
• Good scripting knowledge (Shell/Bash).
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
