Senior DBA (MYSQL, PostgreSQL)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support enterprise PostgreSQL and MySQL database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, security, performance, and reliability while working closely with application teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders. This role requires strong technical expertise in database administration, troubleshooting, optimization, and automation within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide PostgreSQL and MySQL database administration support for application development and business teams.
• Maintain database integrity, availability, security, and performance through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
• Monitor database health, analyze performance issues, and recommend optimization improvements.
• Support capacity planning, storage management, and database growth forecasting.
• Perform database enhancements, upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes.
• Execute database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Apply database patches, fixes, and security updates in accordance with best practices.
• Develop and improve automation, monitoring, and alerting processes to minimize downtime.
• Support database environment setup across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database operational and performance issues.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to deliver stable database services.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 production support when required.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and database administration documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 5-7 years of experience in database administration, database development, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on PostgreSQL and/or MySQL administration experience.
• Strong expertise in database installation, upgrades, migrations, patching, and maintenance.
• Solid understanding of database architecture, logical and physical design, replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
• Experience with query tuning, resource optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting (Bash, Perl, or similar).
• Strong command-line and database server administration skills.
• Experience with capacity planning across storage, memory, and compute resources.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours and participate in on-call support rotations.
• Good English communication skills; Chinese language proficiency is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database administration.
• Knowledge of automation and scripting using Python or Perl.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management principles.
• Understanding of networking concepts and database connectivity.
• Experience within financial services or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
