Senior DBA (PostgreSQL)

About the Role

Join our Infrastructure & Operations Technology team and play a critical role in managing enterprise-scale PostgreSQL platforms that support mission-critical banking services. This role offers opportunities to work with High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), database modernization initiatives, and automation technologies within one of Thailand's leading financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Open-Source PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB (EDB) environments.
• Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
• Monitor database performance, availability, replication, capacity, and health.
• Execute query tuning, index optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions to meet RTO/RPO requirements.
• Perform backup, recovery, failover, and root cause analysis (RCA).
• Support PostgreSQL deployments on Linux platforms (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Troubleshoot database and OS-level performance issues.
• Participate in a 24x7 production support and rotating shift schedule.
• Drive database automation and operational efficiency through scripting and automation tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of IT experience, including 3-5 years of hands-on PostgreSQL Database Administration in production environments.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL (v12+), EDB Postgres Advanced Server, and Linux/Unix administration.
• Solid experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, backup & recovery, replication, and High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions.
• Hands-on experience in database installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational support within enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of shell scripting, Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, or other automation tools is a plus.
• Experience with Oracle and/or MySQL databases is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud-based database platforms, and database monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments and 24x7 operations (shift rotation environment).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Relevant PostgreSQL, Linux, Cloud, or Database certifications are an advantage.
