About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Defence Systems / Integration Engineer to join a specialist technical team supporting the integration, assurance, testing and ongoing evolution of complex ICT and mission systems.

This is a hands-on senior engineering position suited to someone who enjoys working across interconnected applications, information systems, networks and infrastructure, with a strong focus on system integration and interoperability.

You will apply systems engineering principles across requirements analysis, interface management, configuration control, integration testing, verification and validation. The role will also involve providing authoritative technical advice, resolving complex integration issues and assessing the impact of changes across interconnected systems and dependencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer and integrate complex ICT systems across applications, information, networks and supporting infrastructure.
• Analyse system interfaces, dependencies and integration risks across interconnected environments.
• Maintain system design, architecture and configuration documentation.
• Perform configuration management across hardware, software and system artefacts.
• Plan and support technical integration testing, verification, validation and risk-reduction activities.
• Provide Level 3 technical support and assist with system maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Identify, investigate and resolve complex system integration and interoperability issues.
• Assess the technical impacts of changes across systems, interfaces and dependencies.
• Provide authoritative engineering advice to technical, project, security and capability stakeholders.
• Support the integration of new and emerging technologies and capabilities.
• Develop technical reports, engineering assessments, test documentation and recommendations.
• Contribute to technical documentation supporting joint, coalition and interoperable environments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
• Engage with a range of stakeholders to ensure system alignment, technical integrity and successful integration outcomes.

About You

You will be a senior technical practitioner with strong experience in systems engineering, systems integration and complex ICT environments, ideally within Defence or another highly regulated and security-conscious environment.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience engineering and integrating complex ICT systems.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering practices including requirements analysis, interface management, configuration control, integration testing, verification and validation.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications, information systems, data services and supporting infrastructure.
• Strong LAN/WAN networking knowledge, including IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP and network segmentation.
• Experience working across system-of-systems environments, managing interfaces, dependencies and second-order impacts.
• Ability to independently investigate complex technical issues and provide authoritative engineering advice.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical teams, project teams, security stakeholders and capability representatives.
• Experience developing or interpreting system architecture and interface documentation.
• Experience with configuration management and maintaining system baselines.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.

Technical Skills & Experience

Experience across some or all of the following will be highly regarded:

• Windows 11 / Windows Server 2022+
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
• Identity, authentication and trust services
• PKI and federation technologies
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) and End User Devices (EUD)
• Application and binary whitelisting
• PowerShell, Bash, Ansible or equivalent automation/scripting
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) design and management
• Technical integration testing, trials and acceptance testing
• System architecture and Interface Control Documentation (ICD)
• Configuration and version control
• Secure system integration and enterprise/tactical ICT environments
• Deployable, joint or coalition ICT/mission systems
• Defence capability development, integration, test and evaluation or research environments

Experience working with security controls aligned to the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential Eight is also highly desirable.

Security Requirement

An active NV2 security clearance is mandatory for this position.

The successful candidate must be able to work in person at the primary Canberra facility. Interstate candidates may be considered where they are willing to relocate.
