Senior Design Engineer (PEB)

Scope:

Independently handle structural analysis, design and optimization of PEB projects, including industrial buildings, warehouses, workshops, mezzanines, canopies and crane-supporting structures, from proposal stage through project execution.

Key responsibilities:

• Review customer specifications, architectural drawings, tender documents and project requirements; identify missing information and raise technical queries.

• Establish the design basis, applicable codes, material specifications, loading criteria, load combinations and serviceability limits.

• Develop and verify structural models using MBS and STAAD Pro, including appropriate supports, releases, restraints and analysis assumptions.

• Design primary frames, tapered built-up members, secondary steel, bracing systems, mezzanines and other project-specific structural elements.

• Check structural strength, stability, buckling, deflection and drift under applicable gravity, wind, seismic, collateral and crane loads.

• Design or review connections, splices, base plates, anchor bolts and weld details within the assigned engineering scope.

• Optimize member sizes and steel quantities while considering fabrication, transportation and erection requirements.

• Prepare design calculations, design-basis reports, connection calculations and foundation reaction schedules for technical submissions.

• Review approval drawings and detailing outputs for compliance with the design intent; resolve technical queries from draftsmen, checkers, fabrication and site teams.

• Address consultant/client comments, support technical approvals, review junior engineers’ work and manage design delivery schedules.

Main deliverables: Verified analysis models, design reports, member and connection calculations, foundation reactions, technical responses and reviewed engineering drawings.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Experience: : Minimum 7-10 years in PEB structural design.

• Qualification: BE/B Tech in Civil/Structural Engineering; ME /MTech Structural preferred.

• Software: Strong hands-on proficiency in MBS, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD and Excel; IDEA StatiCa knowledge advantageous.

• Technical expertise: Design of built-up frames, primary/secondary steel, bracing, mezzanines, crane-supporting structures and connections; loading, stability and serviceability checks.

• Standards: AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, MBMA, IBC and applicable project/local standards.
