Bring Exceptional Workplace Designs to Life

Are you a commercial furniture designer who enjoys seeing a project evolve from its earliest space-planning conversations through final installation?

Key Executive Recruiting is partnering with an established workplace solutions company to find a talented Senior Designer for its New York City office. This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with technical precision and working closely with clients, sales, project management, and customer service.

You will design across the full furniture package, including systems and ancillary products, and manage approximately $5 million–$10 million in projects annually. As the primary design presence in the NYC office, you will have the independence to take ownership of your work while collaborating closely with colleagues throughout every phase of a project.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in CET, confident working directly with clients, and comfortable managing multiple complex commercial furniture projects from concept through implementation.

A Culture Centered on People and Community

This company believes that a great workplace begins with its people. It is proud to be Great Place to Work® Certified, a recognition based on employees’ experiences and feedback.

Employees describe a collaborative and welcoming environment where people are trusted to take ownership, encouraged to share ideas, and recognized for their contributions. Giving back is also an important part of the culture, with employees participating in company-wide volunteer initiatives and supporting charitable organizations focused on families, housing, education, veterans, and local communities.

This is an opportunity to join a company that values exceptional work, strong relationships, and making a positive difference beyond the workplace.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate all phases of the design process with clients, sales, project management, and customer service

  • Work directly with clients to understand their needs and develop final approved plans
  • Create and deliver polished client presentations
  • Specify systems and ancillary furniture
  • Prepare drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and product specifications
  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and product inventories as needed
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and regulations
  • Manage design changes, revisions, approvals, and signoffs
  • Upload current dimensioned plans to PlanGrid for site surveys
  • Research ancillary products and assist with final proposals
  • Create fabric and finish boards when requested
  • Maintain detailed documentation of key decisions, meetings, approvals, and client communications
  • Communicate regularly with project managers and leadership regarding schedules, progress, and potential concerns
  • Help ensure accurate plans and specifications result in a high-quality final installation

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong CET Designer proficiency is required
  • Hands-on commercial furniture or workplace design experience
  • Experience working with both systems and ancillary furniture
  • Proficiency in space planning, furniture specifications, and installation drawings
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Teknion product knowledge is a plus
  • Confidence communicating and presenting directly to clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • At least one year of experience in a similar role, with the ability to perform independently at a senior level

Schedule and Travel

This is a hybrid position based in Chelsea, with three days per week in the NYC office and two days remote.

Candidates must also be comfortable attending client meetings and traveling to the company’s New Jersey office approximately once per quarter for collaboration and team-building activities. The company covers eligible travel expenses associated with client visits and quarterly travel to New Jersey.

This is not a fully remote position.
